During our Surf Clinic weeks, we offer our usual surf package including
〰️surf coaching,
〰️surf fitness,
〰️surf photographers and
〰️surf guides!

If we are talking about surf fitness, what is involved, and what do we mean? We have spoken to Sami, one of our surf fitness coaches who explained the following:
▪️PreSurf WarmUp: A warm-up routine developed to activate muscles and loosen up joints limiting the chance for injuries and allowing you to go on the offence as soon as you hit the lineup.
▪️PostSurf StretchDown: When you’re pushing your limits out in the water and placing your muscles and joints under prolonged stress, the body will react by stiffening up over time. This routine will mainly focus on key hips, core, legs, and shoulders hotspots.
▪️Strength Sessions: The ability to generate more drive and speed, get to new parts of the wave and have more control over your board are all benefits of adding surf-specific strength training to your programs. While rest and ice baths are essential for proper training, we focus on light to medium-intensity exercises.
▪️Cardio Sessions: The sessions will unlock your endurance threshold and help you progress your surfing to new levels.

Welcome back. Enjoy our latest video of last week 13-20 December. We’ve re-opened our resort after a month of renovations and maintenance. We are super stoked to have our guests back and enjoy the summer surf in the Mentawais.

Surf in similar conditions until March 2025, when you can expect long periods of South swells, optimal for Macaronis, Greenbush, and other nearby breaks. Visit us for our annual Intermediate Surf Coaching Clinics, which will be held January 10th – March 7th, 2025.

🔎 FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS 🔎

Are there good waves for intermediate surfers?

Yes! Intermediate Surfer is a difficult term to define. However, let’s define it as… if you’re able to go across the face on a wave, generate some speed, and do some turns reasonably confidently, then you are an intermediate surfer, suited to surfing small to medium-sized Macaronis and likely to improve quickly during your stay.

If it is a bit big for Macaronis, then Mini Macas, a peak that forms inside of Macaronis, is a favourite place for surfers with some experience but looking for something a little less heavy than Macaronis. Mini Macas is a fun and easy to surf left-hander that is generally empty. On a big swell, Mini Macas can be overhead with beautiful long lines.

Silabu Left is another option for intermediate surfers, just a boat ride through the mangroves away. It is also a reef break, but it is not as steep and perfect as Macaronis. At Silabu, you can surf with a small group of friends, as charter boat guests rarely visit this wave. Macaronis Right is also an amazing option for intermediate surfers.

You can also join our Intermediate Surf Coaching Clinics which are held annually from January - March. Participants can expect one-on-one attention bi our qualified ISA coaches to improve your surfing!
